That’s it, then. Another year gone. Time to start getting excited about the Amplifier double album I’ve been promised for 2009…

  1. To be honest, I haven't bought that many CDs this year, so I can't even put forward a top 10. I was disappointed by the new AC/DC album, which has some cracking songs, but loses me in the middle (I actually fell asleep the first time I was listening to it. How bad is that, for an Acca Dacca album??!). I thought Chinese Democracy as an album was much better, but certainly nothing like G'n'R's older stuff, so couldn't be an album of the year. The only other 2008 albums I think I bought were MGMT and the Black Kids. I bought a bunch of CD's when I was in Quebec, but they're not necessarily all 2008...
So, then 2008 was a year of rediscovering great albums from my past that I so missed having around, after unpacking my CD's in Sept. So here's my list of my top rediscovered albums (in chronological order). Mostly Aussie & Canadian stuff that I've long loved and so missed listening to!!

  2. James, are you sure you've got the TV on the Radio album? It's superb and your indifference troubles me.

However, thank you for the list. I would say MGMT was the best last year, followed by a top 4 made up of Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale, TV on the Radio and one from Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Kings of Leon, but I need to listen to them a bit more.
